GRoW projects

The BMBF funded 12 collaborative projects and one networking and transfer project as part of GRoW. Each joint project consisted of several sub-projects and work packages in which the partners from science, industry and practice implemented the project activities together and contributed to the overall objectives of the funding measure.

The focal points of the collaborative projects can be assigned to the following three topics:

1. Global water resources
The following collaborative projects conducted research on this topic within the framework of GRoW:

  • SaWaM - Seasonal water resource management in arid regions
  • GlobeDrought - Global information system on droughts and their impacts
  • MuDak-WRM - Adapted monitoring and modeling approaches for water quality in reservoirs
  • MedWater - Sustainable management of politically and economically relevant water resources in hydraulically, climatically, and ecologically highly dynamic bedrock aquifers of the Mediterranean region
  • ViWA - Efficient and sustainable global water use

2. Global water demand
The following collaborative projects conducted research on this topic within the framework of GRoW:

  • InoCottonGROW - Global cotton textile industry: the German water footprint in Pakistan
  • WELLE - Determining the water footprint of companies
  • WANDEL - Impact of water availability on a global energy transition

3. Management competence in the water sector
The following collaborative projects conducted research on this topic within the framework of GRoW:

  • TRUST - Innovative planning tools for drinking water supply in water scarce regions
  • STEER - Cross-sector coordination in water resources management
  • iWaGSS - Monitoring-based water governance system
  • go-CAM - Implementation of strategic development goals in coastal zone management
