The GRoW project WELLE offers a webinar on December 3rd and 10th to introduce its recently developed web-based tool for calculating a company’s water footprint – the Organizational Water Footprint tool (OWF).

Most manufacturing processes are intertwined into global value chains and the burdens of companies’ water use mostly occur beyond their factory gates at upstream or post-factory life cycle stages.

The GRoW project WELLE developed a standardised methodology including a practitioner’s guidance for calculating an organization’s water footprint (OWF). A free online tool facilitates identification of organizational water consumption in accordance with the novel OWF approach. The online tool utilises regionalized inventory data and displays water consumption hotpots on a world map. In addition, stacked bar charts differentiate the water consumption impact along specific supply chain stages and help companies understand their water footprint and associated risks.

The webinar presents the methodology of OWF as well as its online tool and underlying database. Following the presentations, the audience is invited to discuss the approach together with the developers, to ask questions and to issue feedback.
