On November 20 and 21, 2019, the 2nd stakeholder workshop of the GRoW project GlobeDrought took place at the Institute for Environment and Human Security at the UN University (UNU-EHS). The participants discussed current and future challenges with regard to conceptualization, evaluation, provision of information and adaptation to drought risks.

In addition to the GlobeDrought consortium, experts from the Joint Research Center-Global Drought Observatory (JRC-GDO), the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) and the World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF) also took part in the workshop.

The workshop offered the opportunity to present key results of the GlobeDrought project and to discuss how these results can be used for the assessment and monitoring of drought risks. In this context, the GRoW researchers presented the prototype version of the GlobeDrought information system and, together with the workshop participants, identified possible uses of the system.

World cafés allowed for a deeper exchange on topics like drought assessment, monitoring, early warning systems, vulnerability and risk assessment. In addition to examining the current status, the experts also identified future challenges as well as possibilities for further cooperation.
