As part of the GRoW webinar series, GRoW partners from ViWA, GlobeDrought and MedWater will share applied knowledge on remote sensing for food security in the second webinar "Remote Sensing for Efficient Water Management in Agriculture". The webinar will take place on 19 November 2021 from 11am to 12:30 (CET) and will be held in English.

This webinar is the second event of our GRoW Webinar series, where GRoW project partners present their products throughout autumn and winter 2021/22.

After the first webinar on reservoir and surface water management, the second webinar in the series will now follow: "Remote sensing for efficient water management in agriculture". Partners of the GRoW projects ViWA, GlobeDrought and MedWater will present targeted knowledge and products that can contribute to improved predictions for sustainable water management in agriculture using remote sensing data.

With the following contributions:

  • Keynote: Variable Rain: Optimizing water use efficiencies in practice, Joseph Thoma, BayWa AG
  • Satellite-based observation to simulate agricultural water use efficiency, Dr Heike Bach, Vista GmbH (Project ViWA)
  • Drought monitoring in cropping systems with multiscale remote sensing data, Dr Gohar Ghazaryan, Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF) e. V. & Universität Bonn (Project GlobeDrought)
  • Potential of sentinel time series for the generation of high-resolution land use and soil moisture maps, Prof Christopher Conrad, Universität Halle-Wittenberg (Project MedWater)
