Webinar on digitization in water management – use of drones in water bodies

Taking place on June 16, 2020, the webinar is dedicated to the diverse tasks of water management and protection, in which the use of drones can contribute to working more efficiently as well as generating high-quality and reproducible data. Dipl.-Geogr. Daniel Höck from DIE GEWÄSSER-EXPERTEN!, partner in the GRoW joint project iWaGSS, will be the webinar’s guest speaker.

The webinar "Digitalization in Water Management - Use of Drones on Waters" will be moderated by Dipl.-Geogr. J.A. Georg Schenk of the German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste (DWA). The first lecture addresses legal aspects of drone flights. In addition, selected examples of drone and sensor technology will be discussed, as well as water sampling by drone. A second lecture is devoted to the presentation of specific evaluation software and some application examples –  including the iWaGSS research region of the Phalaborwa Barrage near Kruger National Park in South Africa.

The webinar will take place on June 16, 2020 from 2 pm to 3 pm and will be held in German. The participation fee for DWA members is € 80 and for non-members € 96. More information about the program and the link for online registration can be found here.
